A former boyfriend of Virginia Giuffre has come forward with new details about her state of mind following her initial encounter with Prince Andrew. Tony Figueroa, who dated Giuffre during their high school years, described receiving a distressed phone call from her in 2001 after she reportedly spent time with the royal.
Figueroa recounted that Giuffre sounded profoundly shaken during their conversation. “Her voice was trembling throughout the entire call,” he remembered. The former boyfriend expressed his own concerns for her safety at the time, noting they both feared the potential consequences given Andrew’s powerful position.
“We discussed the tragedy surrounding Princess Diana’s death,” Figueroa revealed, alluding to conspiracy theories about the 1997 incident. “Facing someone of his stature felt overwhelming. I was overseas at the time and felt completely powerless to help.”
According to Figueroa, Giuffre confided that she felt compelled to comply with Andrew’s advances despite her reluctance. “She told me she didn’t want to be with him but felt she had no choice given his royal status,” he stated.
Figueroa remains skeptical about whether proper accountability will ever be achieved. “The recent removal of his royal titles seems like a minimal consequence,” he commented. “This doesn’t represent meaningful justice for what she endured. The responses so far have been disappointingly mild.”
The former boyfriend attempted to reconnect with Giuffre in her final months. After learning about her hospitalization following a car accident in March, Figueroa said he tried to reach out through mutual contacts but never received a response. Giuffre died the following month at age 41.
While Andrew has consistently denied all allegations made against him, the case continues to generate political attention. Recent reports indicate congressional investigators may seek his testimony regarding his connections to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.
