UK EXCLUDES ISRAELI GOVERNMENT FROM MAJOR DEFENCE EXHIBITION

1 min read

The British government has decided to bar official Israeli representatives from participating in its premier defence industry event next month. While Israeli defence firms and their UK subsidiaries will maintain access to the Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEI) exhibition, government officials from Israel will not receive invitations.

This development coincides with the UK government’s ongoing diplomatic efforts regarding the conflict in Gaza. A government spokesperson stated the exclusion resulted from Israel’s recent military escalation, emphasizing the urgent need for a ceasefire, hostage release, and increased humanitarian assistance.

In response to the ban, Israel’s defence ministry announced it would not operate its national pavilion at the event. Israeli authorities characterized the decision as inappropriate political interference in a professional defence industry gathering.

The upcoming four-day exhibition at London’s ExCel centre will proceed with participation from numerous national delegations and private defence contractors showcasing military equipment. The event occurs biennially with both private sector organization and UK government support.

This action follows similar tensions at a recent international air show where French authorities restricted Israeli defence company displays, creating diplomatic friction between the nations.
