PRINCESS OF WALES MISSES ROYAL ASCOT APPEARANCE

1 min read

The Princess of Wales will not attend the second day of Royal Ascot as previously anticipated, with the decision confirmed shortly before the event’s carriage procession began.

Despite being listed on the official program to participate in Wednesday’s carriage procession alongside her husband, who was scheduled to present race prizes, Kensington Palace announced her absence minutes after the participant list became public.

Sources close to the royal household indicate the decision reflects the ongoing need for careful management of public duties following recent health challenges. The importance of maintaining flexibility around scheduled appearances has been emphasized as the princess continues to balance recovery with official responsibilities.

The Princess has maintained a busy schedule in recent days, having participated in three separate public engagements within the past week. These included a museum exhibition tour in East London, the Trooping the Colour ceremony with her family, and Garter Day festivities in Windsor.

While the Prince of Wales attended the racing event without his wife, other family members were present at Ascot, including the Princess’s mother and sister-in-law.

Attendees at the Berkshire event expressed understanding about the last-minute change. “It’s disappointing but completely reasonable given the circumstances,” one racegoer commented. “The heat alone would be challenging for anyone, and managing recovery requires careful pacing.”

Another supporter noted, “Making health the priority shows wisdom. When you’re not at your best, public appearances can be particularly demanding.”

The decision underscores the continued emphasis on the royal’s wellbeing as she navigates the balance between recovery and public duties.
