NORRIS SETS SIGHTS ON PERFECT FINISH IN CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE

1 min read

Lando Norris has declared his intention to win every remaining race as he enters the final phase of the Formula 1 season holding a slender advantage in the drivers’ championship. The McLaren driver carries a one-point lead over teammate Oscar Piastri into this weekend’s São Paulo Grand Prix.

Norris has surged to the front of the standings after trailing by 34 points following the Dutch Grand Prix. His recent run of form, capped by a commanding victory in Mexico where he led from start to finish, has propelled him to the championship lead for the first time since early April.

With four race weekends remaining, including two sprint events beginning in Brazil, Norris emphasized that his approach remains straightforward.

“Nothing is settled yet,” the British driver stated. “With over 100 points still available, my position means very little. I must perform at my maximum this weekend, next weekend, and through the final rounds. Securing victories in all remaining races is the clear objective.”

His dominant performance in Mexico provided crucial validation of both his capabilities and his car’s competitive level. “When I execute a weekend perfectly like that, it demonstrates what I can achieve,” Norris explained. “That confirmation is valuable as we approach these decisive moments. It represents one piece of a much larger puzzle we’re working to complete.”

Meanwhile, reigning champion Max Verstappen has mounted an impressive comeback to re-enter the championship conversation. The Red Bull driver has narrowed a 104-point deficit to Piastri down to just 36 points behind Norris, winning three of the last five Grands Prix.

“Even being in this position is remarkable considering where we were,” Verstappen acknowledged. “The team’s determination to improve the car has been exceptional. To overcome such a significant gap and still be fighting speaks volumes about their work.”

Though currently positioned as the third contender, Verstappen embraces his underdog status. “I’m racing without pressure,” he noted. “Whether we win the championship or not, I can reflect on a strong season. Matching our performance level would challenge most drivers on the grid.”
