NEW WUTHERING HEIGHTS FILM TRAILER REVEALS BOLD TAKE ON CLASSIC ROMANCE

1 min read

The first full-length trailer for the upcoming cinematic adaptation of Emily Brontë’s “Wuthering Heights” has been released, showcasing a visually striking and emotionally charged interpretation of the literary classic. Directed by Emerald Fennell, the film stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi as the tragic lovers Catherine and Heathcliff.

The preview traces the pair’s tumultuous relationship from their childhood encounters to a complex and tortured adult affair set against the backdrop of the West Yorkshire moors. A pivotal exchange sees Catherine questioning what Heathcliff would do if he were wealthy, to which he responds with a cynical view of upper-class behavior.

Remaining faithful to the novel’s core narrative, the story follows Catherine’s decision to marry the affluent Edgar Linton to secure her social standing, prompting a heartbroken Heathcliff to depart while swearing vengeance. Their enduring connection is illustrated through dramatic sequences featuring passionate embraces and emotional turmoil, all set to an original soundtrack by musician Charli XCX.

Early responses to the production have generated significant discussion. Some viewers have raised questions about casting decisions, while test screening feedback described the film as deliberately provocative. The director has previously spoken about her deep personal connection to Brontë’s work, characterizing the novel as containing elements of sado-masochism that originally shocked readers.

The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Valentine’s Day 2026.
