Manchester City have reached an agreement to transfer goalkeeper Ederson to Turkish side Fenerbahce for a fee of €14 million. The completion of this deal, however, is contingent upon City securing a replacement, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma emerging as the primary target.
Ederson, whose current contract has one year remaining, has reportedly grown unsettled at the Etihad. The Brazilian shot-stopper, 32, has been a cornerstone of the club’s success since his arrival in 2017, amassing six Premier League titles and a historic treble in the 2022-23 season.
The potential move for Donnarumma is facilitated by his diminished status at PSG. The Italian international is considered surplus to requirements following the French champions’ recent acquisition of a new first-choice goalkeeper.
Manchester United Finalise Deal for Belgian Goalkeeper Lammens
In a separate development, Manchester United are on the verge of completing a €21 million transfer for Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens. The 23-year-old Belgian is expected to sign a long-term contract after being identified as the club’s preferred option to bolster their goalkeeping ranks.
The decision to pursue Lammens came after the club assessed other options, including Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez. Ultimately, the younger profile and more favourable financial terms for Lammens made him the more attractive prospect. He is viewed as a player who can provide immediate competition for the starting position while also representing a significant long-term investment.
In other transfer activity, Aston Villa have arranged a loan deal for Jadon Sancho, agreeing to cover the majority of the winger’s wages. Furthermore, a loan move for Rasmus Højlund to Napoli is advancing, with the agreement including a compulsory purchase clause should the Italian club secure Champions League qualification.
Despite these movements, it appears United will conclude the transfer window without reinforcing their midfield, and a potential loan departure for Kobbie Mainoo has been ruled out.
