FORMER ROYAL STAFFER COUNTERS PRINCE HARRY’S ACCOUNT OF FAMILY RELATIONS

1 min read

A former member of King Charles’s household staff has offered a contrasting perspective on Prince Harry’s portrayal of his relationship with his stepmother, Queen Camilla. Grant Harrold, who served the monarch for seven years, described the dynamic between the princes and Camilla Parker Bowles as notably positive in his forthcoming memoir.

Harrold recalled observing Prince William and Prince Harry interacting warmly with their father’s now-wife, directly challenging assertions made in Harry’s recent autobiography. The former staff member specifically highlighted the 2005 wedding day, noting it as the most content he had ever seen Charles.

According to excerpts from Harrold’s account, both princes participated in traditional wedding celebrations, including decorating the couple’s vehicle with “Just Married” signage and chasing after their departing car. This depiction stands in stark contrast to Harry’s published recollections of expressing reservations about the marriage to his father.

The former royal employee’s memoir also touches upon other family interactions, including an anecdote about Prince Philip’s candid remark following Prince Harry’s 2018 wedding ceremony. Harrold’s forthcoming publication presents an alternative viewpoint to recent personal accounts from within royal circles.
