Despite playing with ten men for the remainder of the match, Everton secured a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford, marking their second win at the stadium in over three decades. Following the final whistle, Gueye addressed the entire squad in the dressing room, offering personal apologies to Keane and the team for his actions.
The 36-year-old midfielder received support from his teammates, who responded to his apology with applause. Club manager David Moyes acknowledged the incident while expressing appreciation for his players’ competitive spirit.
Gueye now faces a three-match suspension that will see him miss upcoming fixtures against Newcastle, Bournemouth, and Nottingham Forest. His availability for December matches remains uncertain, as he could potentially join Senegal’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, which begins December 23.
