CHELSEA FACE INJURY CRISIS AHEAD OF LIVERPOOL CLASH

1 min read

Chelsea will be without several key players for their upcoming Premier League match against Liverpool, with manager Enzo Maresca attributing the team’s extensive injury list to the demanding schedule following their Club World Cup campaign.

The club is currently dealing with multiple absences. Cole Palmer is sidelined with a groin issue, joining a list of unavailable players that includes Wesley Fofana, Liam Delap, Levi Colwill, Andrey Santos, and Tosin Adarabioyo. Defender Trevoh Chalobah is also out due to suspension following a red card.

Maresca acknowledged the situation, stating that the high number of injuries at Chelsea and fellow Club World Cup finalists Paris Saint-Germain is likely a direct consequence of the tournament’s physical toll. He expressed confidence, however, in the younger members of the squad who are set to step in, with 19-year-old Josh Acheampong expected to feature in defense.

The manager also addressed the team’s recent disciplinary record, which has seen them receive a notable number of red and yellow cards. Maresca dismissed suggestions of a discipline problem within the squad, arguing that each sending-off must be judged individually and that many were the result of split-second decisions during play rather than ill intent.
