The latest installment of a popular streaming series offers an intimate look at domestic routines and family values. In recent episodes, the focus shifts to everyday moments at home, beginning with a simple announcement: “So, today we’re starting at my house. It’s happy hour.”
Viewers are introduced to an expansive outdoor area, where hummingbirds frequently visit feeders. “The hummingbirds are everywhere around this time of day,” the host observed, describing them as competing for space. The natural surroundings of the California property are prominently featured.
The series was filmed in a rented property in the same neighborhood as the family’s actual residence. While the interior of their home remains private, the outdoor space holds special significance. Several apple trees, already on the property when they moved in, provide fruit for homemade applesauce and apple butter.
This abundance of apples inspired the revival of family cooking traditions. “Once we had this plethora of apples,” the host noted, “it was about bringing back some of those small rituals,” recalling childhood memories of cooking with her grandmother.
Although her husband doesn’t appear on camera this season, their two dogs make regular appearances during outdoor segments. The animals join their owner for leisurely walks around the property.
Protecting family privacy was a key consideration in choosing a separate filming location. “I wanted to protect that safe haven,” the host previously explained, emphasizing the importance of maintaining normal family routines like putting children down for naps and sharing meals together.
The production’s scale presented challenges for maintaining domestic normalcy. “Our kitchen is where Mama just cooks for the family,” she remarked, “and with a crew of 80-plus people, that’s a lot of people to have in your house!”
Family remained central throughout production, with frequent visits from her husband and children to the set. “The kids would come with my husband and visit me on set,” she shared. “I loved that my children were able to watch me working and see the balance of that.” These visits provided children their first opportunity to see their mother in a professional environment, creating what she described as “really special” moments.
