The new Cadillac Formula 1 team has finalized its driver lineup for its debut season, securing the services of experienced campaigners Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas. The American outfit, backed by General Motors, announced multi-year agreements with both drivers as it prepares to join the grid.

Team leadership emphasized that the pairing brings a wealth of expertise crucial for a new operation. The drivers’ extensive careers, technical knowledge, and leadership qualities were cited as decisive factors in the selection.

Both drivers arrive with substantial pedigrees. Pérez, a six-time Grand Prix winner, and Bottas, a ten-time race victor, bring a combined total of over 500 race starts to the project. Each has spent several seasons competing alongside multiple world champions, providing them with insight into the operations of top-tier teams.

The Finn, who has served as a reserve driver this season, expressed enthusiasm for the long-term nature of the venture, highlighting the unique opportunity to help build a team from its foundation. The Mexican driver echoed this sentiment, stating his pride in joining an ambitious project from its inception and his belief in their potential to become future contenders.

While the team will initially use Ferrari power units, a transition to a General Motors engine is planned for the future. The appointment of two veterans signals a clear intent to establish a competitive presence swiftly, leveraging their experience to accelerate the team’s development curve. Team officials confirmed that the drivers’ marketability in specific regions was not a primary consideration, with performance and team-building capabilities being the central focus.
