Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson remains in Germany against his club’s instructions as he attempts to resurrect a collapsed transfer to Bayern Munich. The situation has created a standoff between the player and the London club.
The transfer appeared finalized over the weekend, with Jackson traveling to Munich after the clubs agreed to a loan deal including a €65 million option to buy. However, Chelsea abruptly withdrew from the agreement following an injury to striker Liam Delap during their match against Fulham.
With Delap’s fitness in question, manager Enzo Maresca is unwilling to proceed with a depleted forward line, especially considering the team’s congested fixture list in the coming months.
Despite being told to return to London, Jackson has remained in Bavaria with his representatives, who are actively negotiating with the German champions. Chelsea’s position, however, is non-negotiable: they will not sanction another loan departure. The club is only prepared to sell Jackson permanently for the previously agreed €65 million fee.
Bayern Munich, having already made significant investments this summer, have indicated they can only pursue loan arrangements at this stage of the transfer window.
The ongoing uncertainty has forced Chelsea to explore alternative attacking options. The club is focusing on permanent signings and has made inquiries for several forwards, including Sporting Lisbon’s Conrad Harder. Another possibility being considered is the early recall of Marc Guiu from his loan spell at Sunderland.
Jackson has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge following the summer arrivals of João Pedro and Delap. The Senegalese international, who has not featured for Chelsea this season, had previously expressed his desire to leave the club. While Chelsea still anticipate his return to the squad, the current impasse shows no immediate signs of resolution.
