ENGLAND DEMOLISH SOUTH AFRICA IN RECORD-BREAKING T20 VICTORY

1 min read

A blistering century from Phil Salt powered England to a crushing 146-run victory over South Africa in the second T20 international, leveling the series in spectacular fashion at Old Trafford.

The home side produced a breathtaking batting display, posting a mammoth 304-2 – the highest total in England’s T20 history. Salt was the standout performer, smashing an unbeaten 141 to break his own national record for the highest individual score. His century came from just 39 deliveries, making it the fastest ever by an English batter in T20 cricket.

England’s assault began from the opening over as they raced to 100 without loss in the Powerplay, another national record. Captain Jos Buttler provided explosive support with 83 from just 31 balls before falling to Bjorn Fortuin.

South Africa’s response never gained momentum as England’s bowlers maintained relentless pressure. Jofra Archer led the attack with three early wickets, while spinners Adil Rashid and Liam Dawson shared four scalps between them. The visitors were eventually dismissed for 158 in the 16th over, suffering their heaviest T20 defeat.

The comprehensive victory sets up a series decider at Trent Bridge on Sunday, with both teams now having claimed dominant wins in the opening matches.
