LAURA ROBSON POISED FOR CRICKET ROLE IN AUSTRALIA

1 min read

Former tennis star Laura Robson is reportedly in advanced discussions to join the broadcast team for the upcoming Ashes series in Australia this winter. The 31-year-old, who has built a career in sports broadcasting since retiring from professional tennis, is being considered for an on-the-ground reporting position with the coverage team.

Robson, who was born in Melbourne before moving to England as a child, would be taking on her first major television assignment outside of tennis. Since ending her playing career, she has worked as a pundit for several broadcasters while also taking on administrative roles in tennis, including tournament director positions.

The broadcaster is planning to combine Robson’s live reporting from Australia with studio-based commentary and analysis from Europe. The arrangement would mark a significant expansion of her broadcasting work, which has recently included courtside reporting at major tennis tournaments.

While contracts have not been finalized, negotiations are said to be progressing positively. The broadcaster has secured rights for England’s entire winter cricket schedule, including series in New Zealand and Sri Lanka alongside the Ashes tour.
